When the grocery store has avocados on sale (4 for $2), I picked up a lot of them. A lot. And I already had a lot of avocados in my house. Also, I am the only one that eats avocados straight up. Reality…there was no possible way for me to eat a dozen avocados before they went bad so I had to turn a bunch of them into something everyone would eat.
The banana and avocado combo comes from one of my best friends. While I was at her house one time, she fed her baby mashed banana and avocado. I remember thinking she was insane because it didn’t sound pleasant (and it didn’t look very pretty either). The following week I decided to try it for my own little guy and I was surprised at how good it tasted!
A couple of months after we began eating Paleo, my sister called to say that she had made a chocolate avocado pudding and that my 2 oldest boys, who were visiting, loved it. It’s great to have a way to get them eating avocado without them realizing they’re eating avocado.
Adjust the sweetness to your own taste and halve the recipe if you’re not sitting on a half dozen very ripe avocados.

Banana-cado Chocolate Pudding
Makes 12 servings
Ingredients
6 avocados, ripe and shelled
2 bananas, very ripe
1 cup coconut milk
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup (or less) maple syrup or honey
1 teaspoon vanilla
Dash cinnamon
Directions
Puree all ingredients in a food processor until smooth and fluffy. Serve immediately or press a piece of plastic wrap onto the top of the pudding and refrigerate.
I make this too!! Sooooooo… creamy and yummy!! Hmmmm… I have an avocado and banana in the kitchen– maybe I’ll make myself a single portion right now!
cut the bannana in slices & freeze…put in processor…process until creamy & mix in rest of the ingredients…absolutely awesome…love ur blog:)
You aren’t alone in your “avocado straight up” consumption–I do it too! Just give me an avocado, a knife, a spoon, and STAND BACK…
As for feeding the avocado-resistant, my own husband hated avocados for any use other than the occasional guacamole until I made a batch of the Chocomole Pudding (no bananas) one night. He ate with gusto, and never even knew there was avocado in it until he saw me making it in the food processor one night.
Now he asks for the pudding, and has even allowed me to buy a case of green avocados so he could have more pudding more often.
Since I have a few bananas in my freezer, I’m going to make our next batch YOUR way.
Wonderful recipe! What kind of Coconut milk did you use? Canned or boxed? Thank you!
I use canned coconut milk. Unfortunately, the boxed coconut milk has way too many additives for me.
Thank you, Tara. Just wanted to make sure I used the right one.
How would you break this down into a single serving? It looks delish and I have all the ingredients on hand.
A single serving would be just under a 1/2 cup of pudding.
Thank you for this recipe! I just made this and my two babies (ages 17 months and 9 months) ate it up! Now, I am waiting for the verdict from my older two when they come home from school (ages 9 and 6).
Also, I didn’t have any coconut milk so I just used 1/3 cup of water and it has a nice pudding texture and great flavor!
Thanks again!
[...] I absolutely loathe avocado, but really wanted to reap some of its healthy benefits, so I found this recipe and you can’t taste the avocado AT ALL Highly recommend it if you don’t like [...]
